EMPATHIC HOME

House as carer

“A home must offer more than a roof over your head, especially for seniors”, “What if the house can take over part of the caretaker’s or care tasks?”, “An empathic home, which you ‘know’, sympathizes with and responds to your needs and ensures that you, for example, exercise sufficiently, offer tailor-made care and thus contribute to maintaining your health.”

Research Program

The research program ‘Empathic dwelling’ focuses on the three main building elements in a building: floor, walls and roof. Within these themes, groups of students, researchers, lecturers and market parties collaborate in co-creation to research, shape, develop, realize and test innovative (living) concepts in practice.
For this purpose, a demo- and research house was realized in collaboration with business partners at the Kleefse Waard industrial park on Westervoortsedijk 73 in Arnhem.
The research house is an instrument (testing ground) for knowledge transfer and practical proof of the theoretical concepts that have been developed in our research program ‘Empathic living environment’. It serves as a laboratory for students, a showcase for research and inspiration for visitors.
  • Showcase a place to show the (research) developments

  • Laboratorystudents and researchers can experiment
  • Inspirationvisitors can gain inspiration
